THE WORTHINGTON BILBOW PAGE

The "Worthington" dog stories were written by the brother and sister team Marjorie and Tony Bilbow. They were read on the BBC Light Programme in the late 1950s and 1960s. The stories were always told by Antony Bilbow and he was almost always given the Monday to Friday 11.00am slot. As far as I remember he was the only artiste to be given a whole week at a time. His dog, Worthington, used to feature in about two or three of the stories and the others concerned other characters.

The stories were almost always read "live". Surprisingly and extremely luckily a good percentage of the broadcasts still exist. They are on recording tape in the JEREMY STEVENSON SOUND ARCHIVES.
